Angola: Over 50 Oil and Gas Concessions Awarded
Angola is “on track” to award 60 oil and gas concessions by the end of 2025, exceeding its initial target and strengthening its position as a prime destination for upstream energy investments in Africa. This was stated by the executive director of the National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG). Alcides Andrade, specifying that the country has already exceeded its target of awarding at least 50 concessions through licensing rounds and direct negotiations.
The regulator’s director spoke last week at African Energy Week in Cape Town, a key event for the continent’s energy sector. “Since 2024, we have awarded more than 20 blocks. This represents more than 50 blocks. We see the potential to award up to 60 concessions by the end of this year,” Andrade said.
